Mariia Mykhailova is a software engineer with Microsoft Quantum Redmond (in the the QuArC group) and a most outstanding individual. Her Twitter handle is tcNickolas. At the drop of a hat she joined us for a great presentation of Q# and quantum katas over Zoom in our semi-virtual workshop at SIGCSE 2020. Thanks, Mariia! Thanks also to Mark Tsang, her manager, for his always supportive and friendly nature. Mariia along with Mark and with Sarah C. Kaiser's co-author, Chris Granade, were scheduled to hold a much-anticipated workshop the day of our event, only a bit later in the evening. However Microsoft decided to self-quarantine in Redmond and the workshop was canceled. Mariia had a presentation scheduled for Thu Mar 12 3:00pm-3:45pm in Exhibit Hall E but that presentation was also canceled. However, you can listen to it as part of our pre-symposium event in the videos page due to Mariia's generously accepting our last minute invitation! There were two more presentations in the SIGCSE 2020 schedule on the topic of quantum computing (which brings them to a grand total of five): a very interesting poster (on Learning Trajectories for K-12 Quantum Computing, from U of Chicago and UC Santa Barbara, scheduled for Fri @3pm in Exhibit Hall E) and a video presentation by Mariia Mykhailova and Krysta M. Svore (scheduled for Sat Mar 14 @11:35am-12noon in D135). But following an announcement of Oregon Gov. Kate Brown late Wednesday night the conference was promptly canceled the very next morning.
